parts for sale on craigslist i'm looking at. have questions
« on: August 08, 2011, 07:16:44 PM »
guy here is selling a bunch of CB750 parts, guess he got a storage unit full and now trying to get rid of it, i have a few questions

the three chrome pipes, (obviously missing one....) why do i think this exhaust is off an F....am i wrong?

center four into one. (the black one) has a two bolt flange where it mates to the head... all the ones i have ever seen have those finned clamp things... is this even a CB750 exhaust? what would a guy need to run this?

two styles of carbs here, one has butterflys and one has slides.... which is the "best" set.

why are these tanks different? look at the leading edge.

any specific value difference?

as you can see he has 3 engines, anything you experts can tell me about looking at these engines? like early or late? based on the exhaust spigots i believe? and anything i should stay away from?

reason i am asking all this is that i can not afford the asking.(wish i could come up with 1200) price for all of it but he said he's willing to parts it out. and i bought a "project" with a title last year and i need some parts. my engine (76) has busted up pistons and rings and it is a basket case (literally it is in milk crates) so i need parts and would like to tap all of you peoples knowledge to make sure i get the best parts i can...
thank you

I will buy any stock exhaust pipe I can get if the price is within reason and there are no holes or any other other major blems. Need a couple more 2-3's to complete some sets.Buy them whenever somebody wants my money,or to fund their project.  Eric

I believe the three chrome pipes are 341's, which came on model K's (72-76)
The top carb rack loooks like what I have on my K4.
The left gas tank looks like an early k model, the other??

Doesn't this guy know what he has??

The 4 into 1 exhaust is aftermarket, possibly Mac, but defenitely not OEM.

The top carbs are for 69-76 CB750's, the bottoms are for DOHC, not SOHC.

Get some serial numbers of the engine and look them up that way.  I can't really tell much from the pictures.

The flanged exhaust headers were used on 77' and 78' K models (four into four), I think the "A" models too, and the "F" models (four into one). The flanged four into one shown in the pict is indeed aftermarket. Flanged exhaust headers can be used on earlier models (76' and earlier) by removing the spigots and replacing those countersunk machine bolts with studs (preferred) or longer bolts (not advised). Save the spigots though!

Any titles for those frames?

You need to find 1200.00 bucks some where and buy the whole lot. You could probably triple your money just selling the parts on Ebay. Where are you located? Maybe we could work a deal.
If it ain't broke yet, just give me a little more time...

The other tank is a CB500T tank.  The 4:1 looks exactly like a DOHC 750 header that I have here.  Flange mounts and all.
