Subject – Police Seek Reckless Motorcyclist

Anchorage Police Department Officers are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the driver of a motorcycle who recklessly eluded police on 7-17-11.
On 7-17-11 at 0825 hours Anchorage Police Officer Palmatier saw the blue and silver Yamaha YZF-R1 inbound on the Glenn Highway near the Birchwood Exit carrying a rear seat passenger and travelling in excess of 100 MPH. Ofc. Patzke set up at the weigh scales and activated his emergency lights hoping to slow the driver down but instead the driver sped up to 125 MPH and continued inbound.
The officers did not pursue the motorcycle because of the danger such a pursuit would present to the motorcyclist, passenger and other drivers on the road.
The bike was seen a few minutes later by Officer Burton at 5th Avenue and Karluk Street and when he tried to stop it, the driver eluded him going the wrong way on Gambell Street. The motorcycle is believed to be a stolen vehicle.
The driver of the motorcycle is a white male adult who wears a silver helmet with a “Mohawk” ornamentation down the middle of the helmet, and a black leather jacket. The passenger wore a red helmet with a black leather jacket.
Anyone with information which might assist in this investigation should contact Ofc. Palmatier at 786-8771.

It's Alaska, can't they just gather up everybody into one room and ask nicely? I mean we are talking about a place where 1969 camaros were the most stolen car one year because two of them were stolen in the same year (may have been the same car stolen twice for all I know).

They got a nice clear picture of that shoplifter. I would say he's goin' down! The bike dude will also get caught and will probably end up in a high speed crash doing it...............(some people's kids!!!)

No spike strips.  You never know when YOU may need to elude some fuzz in the future.

Shoot a target moving 125mph? Even if you were also going 125mph it would be extremely difficult.

I was joking, but on the other hand being cleaned up with a fire hose is probably this squid's destiny anyway. Too bad his girlfriend (or boyfriend?) will probably also be an eventual victim of his stupidity.

Shouldn't be shoplifting, then.

Either way, when *SPLAT* happens the most sympathy either the rider or passenger will get from me is a shrug.

In the world of gearheads I can't think of a whole lot that is lower than taking someone's pride and joy and getting into a police chase (w/ passenger) with it.

Too bad he'll be taking someone else bike out with him when he goes.

I was saying the jacka$$ will be talking the shoplifter (his boyfriend) with him when the jacka$$ goes down, and that the shoplifter boyfriend shouldn't have been shoplifting.

That's interesting. The communities where I lived used ferries so it was kind of tough getting a stolen cars off the rock, but who knows.

That sounds like Los Anchorage though.
