Topic: pulling parts from some 1970 cb750 $$$ ideas

found a couple of 1970 cb750 tucked away and im about to strip parts off of it.

any tips for parts that are worth some money on these bikes? im going to dump parts on fleabay to offset the cost of my builds but if there are forums members with some special requests ill definitely give first priority and the best prices that i can give.

they arnt sandcast bikes though because the engine vins dont fall in the 1001-1007 range 

i know the unicorn top triple tree thing is worth money.

im also wondering about the gauges on those bikes. the gauges have the lights in it too like oil and neutral and all that the ones i can pull are in mint condition speedo and tach

i actually went to my boneyard i go to and they where literally scooping sections of bikes up with a front end loader and crushing them. from what i understand they do that every couple of years to make room

the crappy thing was they took out a whole line of cb550  there where 2 bikes that had these lower fork braces that i missed out on because the last time i went there i ran out of time and they closed......

but ya i was totally shocked today they just took out rows that where the "oldest".... i cant imagine how many K0 they crushed for scrap metal back in the day

so any idea on note worthy parts to pull and save for humanity and vintage sohc4 restorers?

And I would think pretty much anything that's still usable from a K0 would be worth money since they aren't making any more of them.

i have a bone yard with a bunch of vintage bikes i pick through

so far i have 2 cb750 plastic chain guards. the lady wont budge on $35 a piece for them (i even lied and said it was for a cb550 and #$%*ed about it being plastic still didnt work) so after shipping and maybe $10 for my time that is pretty expensive. on is 3.5 out of 5 and another is 3 out of 5. both have the weird oval washers that fit into the plastic and bolts. ( i did take the oval washer things that fit into the plastic and the bolts so if anyone wants them i have them.)

i have 2 unicorn top triple tree. no cracks with spacers selling it on this forum for 150+shipping and on ebay for $200

i also have 3 sets of spacers and bolts for unicorns

i can get my hands on R1 R2 R3 camshafts but the lady wants $45 a piece for them and after shipping and a little change for me i dont think its worth it

i have a mint speedo and tach with the idiot lights in them. i might keep them for myself for sell the pair for like $300

i also got some cb650 tach drive things that are important when you do a cb650 to cb550 cam swap

It called sportwheels in Jordan MN.  they have one the biggest bone yards in the county.  People come from England every year and take part and ship them home every year.

Same thing happening here in Phoenix with Brits, Aussies, Kiwi's, etc. But that's okay, because it's the only thing that stopped our big boneyard from scrapping more of the vintage stuff. To make money, they need to buy and sell stuff that turns over fast. These days, that means recent model sport bikes and cruisers. So if they run out of space, the stuff that's been rotting in the yard for 40 years waiting for guys like us to buy a $20 part will be sold by the pound to the scrapper.  You can't afford to be nostalgic when the boneyard is what puts bread on your table.

There is no way to make allot of money doing this unless you do it a very large scale.

You need to buy the complete bikes and catalogue what they have and don't have for parts. Keep a data base of what you have in stock. You would have to volume discount from a shipper like ups to make money. When you ship you have to keep boxes within a certain size and weight to save money. (this is why you don't see allot of CB exhausts for sale too much to ship about 100 dollars)

You would need to establish market value. You just cant make up a price, there would be competition.

So lets review to do this and make money you would need to have allot of bikes keep shipping low or minimal and sell at a fair market price.

hahaha lol im strictly a broke ass college kid trying to make $10

this is not my job im a full time student, a bartender, and a DJ

this is just my summer hobby and since im blessed to have this yard 25min away from my house i thought maybe some weird and easy parts that i can pull for some forum members i would help the cause (and maybe make a little change since im already there pulling parts for my cb550)

so things like exhausts or those R1 R2 R3 cams having to crack open the engine are really tuff.

shipping on the other hand isnt that bad those usps fedex flate rate shipping boxes are priced pretty fair.

i shipped some super rare prodrive spings off my gc8 subaru impreza to austrailia and it only costed $80 (two medium boxes)
