clutch froze bike has set a long time ?
« on: August 10, 2011, 07:22:36 AM »
hey guys did a little search but didn't see anything. came across a 76 CB 750f that the guy says runs but the clutch is froze due to setting so long. just wanted to run it by you guys first before i went and looked at  it . anything to look for or try . also if that is the problem whats the fix and how hard is it to do a clutch job . i remember trying one when i was 16 and i broke something i think it was the basket when i tightened it down . my dad ended up having a friend do it.

As mentioned before recently they can be taken apart fairly easily, plates cleaned and soaked and put back together. Most of the time for me though they will break free with a good engine warm up,getting some hot oil going, gentle rocking in gear or tying the clutch handle to open for awhile also while working on other things. Just broke a 71 750 free recently for a guy that was sitting since 85.Not a deal breaker by any means.
