Topic: Will GL1000 rotors fit my '76 CB760F??

I have a chance to by two front and one rear rotor from a 1977 GL1000 super cheap for some drilling and thinning Im doing on a custom project. My question is wether the offset and dimensions (offset, diamter, etc) are the same for rotors on a '76 750F are the same as the GL1000? I assume they are since the front wheel hubs are the same, but I just wanted to confirm.

I believe the front are the same but the back is different the worst thing you would have to do is maybe add some washers but check the bolt pattern first just because they are the same as my 550 and 750 A and my parts supplier says the only difference is the diameter for the 550 not the 750 check it out do some measuring

I am pretty sure the gl forks and trees are a bit wider than a cb.

He asked for a 76 F model front rotor compared to a GW.  I don't have the F model here, but do have the GW.

'76 F should be the same as K and early GL on front.............I am watching this discussion for more incite as I plan to use GL wheels and brakes on K and late F builds..........I think the easiest front fix is to switch the entire tree and forks.

My particular build is going to have quite a few various parts for the front end. I plan on thinned and drilled GL rotors on my Lester mag, custom axle to adapt to a Betor road racing front end, and since the spread is thinner than stock, running no traditional speedo and instead using either a gps unit for speed indication or a bicycle speedo. I will also be running new Lockheed calipers mounted to custom bracketry. Triples will be the vintage Betors that came with the forks and Tommaselli 35mm adjustable clipons. Should make for a very out of the box setup when complete.

I believe this is what you are looking for:  I am showing 28/32" offset, although I imagine it is a metric number.

K is much larger in diameter, with less offset.  F appears to be very close when looking at my 77 CB750F. The K is offset 18/32" as opposed to the GL1000 which is 28/32"

Courtesy of King, I not have an answer. GL rotors have a different offset but are otherwise the same. GL rears, on the other hand, have the same part number as 750F rears and are interchangeable.

if you want to use the GL front wheel it would be best if you used the entire triple tree and forks it is the wheels that cause the forks to be so wide set I have 75 and 77 GL's all the GL wheels I have seen between 75 and 77 have spoked wheels with one exception being the 75 prototypes I believe late 77 they switched to com stars

I am running a skinnier Betor front end so the rotor offset is a big issue, otherwise that would be my next move.

Slikwili, I have two complete gl1000 frontends, 2 k2 750's, and a k5 750 sitting in my shop right in Kalamazoo MI...pm me if you want to come and take some measurements...sorry no f's at this time...although I do know of several in Kalamazoo...sounds like you got a nice batch of parts to mix and match...

Sean, your shop wouldn't happen to be a machine shop by chance, would it? I know my way around a lathe and mill, but dont have access to stuff like that. I need to make or have made a new steering stem and axle for this front end and dont want to pay $60 and up per hour for machine time.
