brake bleeding questions.. with bleeder

has any one used a bleeder like this? it has a guage  that is supposed to be in inches of mercury.. but i dont really understand it i just pump it up and open the bleeder.. is there more to it than that...

it worked well for  a couple master cylinders that didnt push the fluid to pressure but i still feel like somethings off

tech just look at the gauge before it gets to zero turn the bleeder off if not you could let air back into the system.

That is just a basic vaccum system to suck the air out of the lines. As you bleed the brakes you want to be sure you create a vaccum and that is what the gauge is for. I have the MityVac which is the same deal. They work nice especially after a master cylinder rebuild if you have trouble getting the air out. Have the bleeder closed, then pump the handle to 5 or 10 is what mine says, then slowly open the bleeder and watch the bubbles come out. If you have a ton of small bubbles that means air is getting in past the bleeder threads. If that happens you will need to put a little teflon tape on the threads which works for me.
