Bill  the living will is the way to go, though some doctors will NOT always adhere to the Do Not Resusitate ordrs (personal experience here).

It is a difficult thing to go through.

I will say a prayer that things go smoothly for you.

Bill, Sorry to hear about your dad.  I really hope h pulls through.  Sounds like he is a pretty tough individual.  I actually had an experience similar to this with my grandmother but in her case she just stopped eating and it was very clear she was ready to go and so we had to let her.   On the other hand I had a friend with ALS that needed a feeding tube and just getting the proper nutrition that his body was lacking did wonders for him.  He had more energy, his mood was better, he required less pain medication, and was a lot more interested in physical therapy. I'm really happy to hear that you guys have a fighting chance, sounds like you are doing the right thing which is just listening to him and being responsive.

         How are YOU doing now? I can only imagine how your experience was. I mean, I lost my Wife 2yrs ago last month, but had no idea what was in store for us, until that morning and in about 30 minutes (or so), she was gone. You just never know when the time is coming.   

Basicly dealing with sibling as s-holery, greed and such, pilfering, and prolly a hundred bK's of loand that dad made that won't be paid back. I knew his business pretty well, loans out, etc.

Living wil/ Trust has become a kabal between two people who owe the most, I am a mushroom in the dark, but left in the house that has been a full time job for a couple years. Roof, trees, lawns all stuff that I could have hired out instead of busting my back.  Somehow when I told him that this could be claimed and beyond the price of his deductable we made a claim. Now the agenda is pay nothing but a kind thank you and steal what they can.

Of course they asked for and received money for nothing and I get nothing. Sorry bro's , we need to examine this a little closer, I think the cause of action in unjust enrichment.

Had a nice week in DC with his veteran group, they are the real family. As much as I don't think tatoo is for me, maybe there is one just for me if someone else at the reunion next year drinks enough on the same night and also does it on a dare.

I think the little  cat in the sherman with a lightning bolt is kinda cool, especially with a slogn like "Delenda est Mal."

      It's really something, what some have to go through, in the case of an elderly Parent or Grand Parent. I only had to deal with a brother (who we no longer claim) and that was pretty bad. You do the best you can and be confident that YOU are doing the right thing. It can be so frustrating, I know. I have my Dad's place to take care of as well. I am looking at seeing if I can find a reputable person to keep the yard work done, as it is a 2hr drive to get there and involves, at least a full day (and into the night), with travel time included. I WILL have to be convinced that I HAVE a reputable person before I let them have it though.

   Not much on tatoos either, but that IS pretty cool.

       Yeah, I thought that once we made the decision, about the living will, that would be it. But, I quickly found out that I have to bring it up every time he goes to the E.R., to the hospital, etc. Pretty frustrating, to have to keep doing that. But, you do what you gotta do, you know?

       Thank you. Yes, he IS pretty strong willed alright. I feel for what YOU all have gone through. I know that there are many others going through this too. Dad seems to be making a decent comeback, but we won't know for sure how well he will be doing, for a few more days yet. I'm getting comments though, that he IS coming along and he DOES look better too. He has a problem with short term memory and not knowing where he actually is (place, city, etc) but there are things that he is very sure of. For example, he DOES know that my brother and his wife tried to railroad him into a nursing home and leave him there. He remembers THAT full well. He also tells of things that happened years ago and with pretty good detail, but I HAVE noticed that some of the details are starting to get mixed up some, in the stories of his. He apologizes for adding to my load, but I tell him, "Look Dad, YOU and Mom bring me up and NOW, it's MY time to take care of you". And that's the way I feel.  Even though I am responsible for HIS welfare, as long as he is able to add his input, it WILL be heard and adhered to, as much as possible. No one seemed to know what to do once I was sitting with my dad with all that "Help."  Brothers can be a real bother when they start saying they out of the blue will file a restraining order. Go through your mail, shut down your internet, leave with three suitcases more than they came with.

THat's just one nugget of  butt-head brothers.  I could go on.

Can anyone from east St paul look up a police record? where after his drunken drama he invited the police to the hotel room and he and his son were invited away?

They say you have to appear in person to get a friggin' police record? WTF?

Dad was great at that, now it's going to take a judge to deal with the as  sholery.

      Aw Man! It sounds like You all have a hell of a mess, as it is!  I can identify with that. Fortunately for me, I only had 1 brother and he and his wife were trying to put Dad in a Nursing Home, make off with everything and leave me completely out of the picture. Well, except that, when they put him in that nursing home, they gave ME as a contact, if anything was needed. We had to go to court too, because they filed for Guardianship (or rather SHE did, because my so called brother,had a felony and I still don't know what for) But, we managed to take care of that court hearing, as we had managed to turn things back around. I had heard of others having family problems like this, but had no real idea how bad it could get. Let's just say I got a real education and a hell of a lot of support from my late Wife and from here. I will ALWAYS be beholding for the Strength and support that comes from here. 

      I Pray that things can be taken without too much more problems, in your case.
