Bird flew into my garage
« on: August 12, 2011, 01:31:59 PM »
It took a few looks around and flew off.  Didn't really seem to mind me at all...

Cool lookin' bird. Is it a parakeet? We've had humming birds come inside the shop I used to work at. They come in but they get up higher than the roll up doors (3 of them) and are too dumb to figure out how to get back down and go out the door!! I think I've only seen one out of about 5 make it out. The others were found dead a day or 2 later.

Off top of my head I'm not sure what it is (without google).  I haven't seen any flying around outside that looked like that though...

Kewl.

It's a peach-faced lovebird.  My son has one just like it.

He was visiting his cousin who is surrounded by an avocado grove.  He and his cousin saw it in a tree, my son held up his hand, finger out horizontal, and the bird swooped right down and landed on his finger.  Just like that.  He's had it ever since  (~3 years now).  Super tame.  Rides around on yer shoulder like a pirate.  Aaarrrr!  :)
