After ALL This HEAT, Relief Seems to be FINALLY Coming!
« on: August 10, 2011, 03:44:36 AM »

Head a little shower night before last and this morning, I am awakened by thunder and it is raining some. We SURELY needed THAT!   8)   I hope that others of you, who are in the same situation, are getting some relief as well.   ;)

It's ranged from 46F to 55F here for the last 3 weeks.  :'(  We're hoping to hit 70F this weekend.

Too bad we can't share our weather.  :)

LOL, I hear THAT. That way, we could sort of "Balance it out".  ;)  We're sitting on about 70 degrees as of now and are supposed to get up to the low 90's, for the next few days. Sure beats the fool out of the 100's (with NO rain) that we've been having, for SO long!

It seems Michiganders (some anyway) are whiners. We are headed into some cooler weather, (typical for August) but on the news they noted we had a "record string of hot weather" with 40+ days of daily highs in excess of 80F. Tell that one to the folks in Texas.  ::)
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

We are well on our way to 40+ days in 100F+ heat.  Just another summer in Texas!

I hear that, even here in Arkansas, we've had the 100 degree+ for so long, I have forgotten just how long it HAS been.  ::)  I just know that my yard is a combination of a little dead grass and alot of dirt! Much as I'm not really loving cutting grass, at this point, I SO wish I HAD some GREEN grass in my yard.  :-\    Sure was glad to hear the thunder this am and see that it was raining too! I just hope it doesn't rain too hard and wash most of my yard, down the street.

The old record in Dallas for consecutive 100+ degree days is 42, set back in 1980.  We're going to beat that record on Saturday and keep on sailing right through! 8)

I had the 'pleasure' of visiting Houston a couple of times on business in July and August a few years back. All I can say is, "Ugh!"  :o

Houston gets very humid and makes it a lot worse.  I don't know how they do it.  It gets humid here but much more there.

I wanna ride but I won't in this heat.  It takes the fun out of it for me.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Same here, but to be honest, I'd probably be taking the car to work more often if it were in better shape.  Both of my bikes are in better mechanical condition than the Subaru, and I need it to last at least a couple more years, so I let it rest more.

Uh-oh!  Seems to be a storm brewing...  Will it be enough to break the streak for just a day?

It may not hit that 100 today.  Who knows.  I think it is about 92 right now.

I don't know.  Just checked the radar and the storm isn't that big and looks to be breaking up.  If it passes quickly we'll still have at least three more hours of heating before the evening.

Broke the streak today.  Only hit the mid 90's, but it will be back in full force tomorrow.  Oh well, maybe next year! ;) ;D

I made the most of this cold snap, though, and changed the oil in my car, which has needed it all Summer.

In my defense, it hasn't been changed since before we moved here last Fall.  I do keep it topped up, though.

Haha. I stopped changing car oil years ago. For what it costs me to have it done, they can keep doing it!

Sure don't miss that Ozark heat. After 12 years, I could never get use to it. I like this dry heat. Definately more tolerable.

I only do the Subaru.  Boxer engines are easy because the filter is front and center and it only takes about ten minutes.  The Nissan is a different story.  You need two extra elbows on one arm to reach the filter. :o  I let my wife take that in to get the oil changed.
