Tail light doesn't work....

Like the title says, tail light doesn't work. Brake light works but tail light doesn't work when the headlight is on. I haven't opened my haynes manual yet...any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

Check the bulb first. It's a dual-filament and could be blown. Check the connection under the seat leading to the tail light. If there are three wires, the green is usually ground and the other two are running and brake light.

check for 12v at the brown wire under the seat.  If there, check the bulb-there should be continuity between the side of the bulb and each filament.  If you do not have 12v at the brown wire, get back to us...Larry

Check bulb, trace wires to verify connections. Happened to me last week.My ground wire on the tail light had come loose.

Definately check the connection with the brown wire under the seat, trace it through the headlight and see if it connected..

just had this same problem on my bike, the brown wire was opened up from rubbing under the seat. electrical tape was a quick fix.
