The rally was a lot of fun... we should  do it again..

The planning started the preceding November on a whim.

Riding across the continental divide on Vail Pass during a snow storm one weekend feet out 25mph outriggers on I-70 with cars and trucks passing in astonishment, riding across the plains of Kansas the next weekend in 100 degree weather to Topeka and Motorcycle Classics and the return across the plains of Colorado in more snow the next day sure provided memories. Damn near froze my balls off LOL. What a ride!

HOWEVER the memories that are the most indelible are working with, riding with and meeting so many fantastic forum members. Camaraderie. Getting people involved in preparing their bikes and getting out on the road away from their safety net homes and on the road for their first time. International event that has been copied numerous times.

I remember the Topeka meeting, we arrived late but it was totally worth it, on the way back my 76F got a gelled up fuel filter, I had quite a time riding with the choke on until the next fuel stop. I took a fun road through Mo. coming home, it was all curves and steep hills. And the anticipation of our photo in the mag, they could make a postage stamp from it. HA!  Then the Chicago leg the next week in the rain, we were hours late for the metup at 3 Floyds brew pub. I felt bad for the guys waiting all afternoon. Bud and I were still wearing wet shoes and gloves the next morning when we left the motel at 40*. I learned how to adjust a clutch lifter that morning and tightened a chain on the road. We hit the two lanes and rode fast to try to get where it was warm.
 I'm still not sure if someone paid at the toll booth or some of us still owe for it L0L.

It was a good time. Here are a few pictures:

First is my bike loaded up on my way to Kalamazoo to meet up with Sean Barney and MJ Stone along with Ekpent, Dave the Welder, Old School and a couple other guys. I might have overpacked slightly.

Then a group shot at the Mackinac Bridge left-to-right, MJ, me, Sean, Fuzzball (Paul), a kid whose name escapes me, and Dave the Welder (who I saw at Mid Ohio in 2019 along with his sun). Fuzzball and the kid both lived in the UP, Paul not too far from the bridge and the kid in Marquette. Paul and his wife put us up at their home that night and the kid and his wife the next night in Marquette. Side note, the kid crashed on his way to the bridge when he hit some gravel on a sharp right hand turn in the Tunnel of Trees. Slid right across the road and almost got hit by a car. He had a very nice leather jacket strapped to the back of his bike because it was hot.

Me, Sean Barney, and MJ Stone at Old Scrambler's house in Wisconsin on the back end of our loop around Lake Michigan in August. I also rode with a few guys, including Don Rosenberry and his brother in an earlier stage in May. The weather for that one was crappy, 50's and raining, and my then new to me 550K was running terribly, which turned out to be a loose nut where the 1-4 condenser attached to the points (took about 2 hours to diagnose and 15 seconds to fix).

Godzilla was constantly trying to steal my beer.

We should  be thinging about another Rally or Reunion., ....maybe an East one and West one ....would make it  easier..
 We could competes... see if East or West hets more participaction...

Maybe stagger the dates if anyone would be inclined to hit both events?

I always thought 2 or more simultaneous relays would be cool, less waiting for your region to participate... But tough on the administration side.
