78' cb750f ss rear set question
« on: December 23, 2012, 01:13:32 AM »
ok so before i ask, i've done my searching and seen a lot of different set ups. it just seems alot of the info and pictures are old that they dont even show up anymore.

anyways, i picked up a set of 01' gsx-r 1000 rear sets for my 78' cb750f, and want to get them mounted on the bike. i know i'm gonna have to weld a tab/mounting location on the frame somewhere and get shorter engine mount thru bolts etc.

my main concern is with the shifter linkage. i feel like its really going to be alot of trial/error to get the linkage right and dont want to order too little or more than what i need interms of a custom linkage kit. my other concern is getting something that will fit the splines of the shifter shaft.

if anyone can point me in the right direction and post up some pics of how specifically you mounted your rear sets, that'd be greatly appreciated. i dont want to go about welding a tab on, mounting them, and realizing that where i welded to would physically be impossible to get a linkage set up.

also, if anyone can point me to a site that offers DIY linkage kits

thanks in advance

Here you go mate, Cliff (Maduncle) made his own rearsets for his F2 Cafe Racer. I only rode it the once and it didn't shift well at all, but I think it had gearbox issues. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I used a set off a F2. You are right, the sift link is a bit of a #$%* to get right do to all the slop and play in the stock shift system. I bought 3 or 4 before I got it right.
Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.
