A little before and after
« on: May 04, 2006, 09:10:47 AM »
I'm not done yet, but I gotta ride this thing as is.  I fabbed up the single seat, still working on what to recover it with.  Clubmans or the set of drag bars I have in the garage are going on next.  I originally wanted to paint the tank flat black and do some white/red pinstripping but after stripping the old paint the industrial metal look has been growing on me.  I think I'm going to do some more sanding on it then clear it.

That bike of yours looks badass !
If you can , post some more pics of it, especially of the rear ?
Did you replace the stock inner fender with a HD unit or something ?

Kepe up the good work, and get rid of those huge turnsignals  ;D

Thanks teal.  This is the only other picture I have uploaded.  The fender is stock, just moved in.  Before the turns signals get replaced the tailight will be.  I'm working on making a bracket that will hold the brake light and license plate.  The cops don't really like the current place I keep the plate.  :P

i can't imagine the battery likes the current plate location either... looks like you are pretty close to shorting that thing out.

Interesting fender idea.  Never thought of moving it back.  You could actually cut it right behind where you mounted it that way you can still use the stock plastic inner fender and keep the nice rolled fender end.

Oh, the stock inner plastic fender is still in there.  I thought about removing it but all the electricals would get dirty.  And yeah, my friend and his dad both work as mechanics out at Cycletech.

Ah, but we haven't seen the finished porduct, yet. Granted I thnk it looked really nice in the before as well, BUT, time will tell.

I say throw the drag bars on it. Let see how that looks.

Why not mount the plate off of the tail light.  Its already on the side.  Would be alot nicer and you'd get your sidecover back :)

The previous owner lost the battery cover.  And yes some chrome clubmans or my drag bars will be going on soon.  I think the bike looks pretty damn good, and it'll only get better once I'm done.  With a newly covered black leather seat, drags, and chrome 4-1 exhaust it'll be sweet.  You guys actually liked the huge seat?  To me that was the first thing that had to go.

I say get the bike done and rideable, and then go back and address/refine the areas that you think can be made better, such as the seat, lighting , etc...

Definetly, its got 250 miles on it so far this year; my other vehicles are getting jealous.  As far as the fender goes its attached up top with two bolts.  I did have to drill the fender though.  I left the plastic inner fender attached in the stock location, cut the upper part down and bolted the two together.  Its pretty stought and has no problem holding skinny chicks.  ;D
