Boge M270 rear shocks on a 750f???
« on: August 15, 2011, 10:48:28 AM »
A buddy of mine (Gnarlycharlie4u) and I went up to Baltimore and picked up a 77 cb750 F project and recently noticed that these shocks sit WAAAY high up. They are the exact same size as stock... but I am clue less as to what they are/where the came from/or if they are usefull to myself or someone else.

Google seems to only be yielding BMW m3 applications  :o

I got a pair of those. They normally were used on bmw bikes in the 70s. I would like to rebuild mine but I am not sure if that is possible anymore.

Fantastic. Thanks mate! I will probably just go back to stock and see if anyone on here wants these...reasonable price?

The springs are too stiff for my application I think..

I've got them on my 650. 2nd to softest setting and running preload with 20w bel ray fork fluid. feels good.

You must have softer springs. I wonder if softer springs would fit on these shocks?

when I ordered the shocks, the seller asked my weight and that of the bike so the springs could be matched.

I've got Boge shocks on my K1, a few years ago a guy in Colorado found a container full of them and was selling them on EBay for 50 bucks a pair, and I bought a heap of them.

I've since horse-traded them all away apart from the pair on my K1, but they are a really good quality German shock, (although mine were made under license in Mexico) and were as good as Koni's in their day. They are also a lot easier to rebuild, and even came with a little tool kit so you could do just that.

Not sure where you'd find replacement seals etc now, but I'm sure someone here will know. Cheers, Terry. D;
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah its the seals I wonder about. If I could get those, I might rebuild the things and get a lighter weight spring. The springs are in nice shape but I have seen no markings denoting weight.

You could probably buy a pair of Ikon springs Skunky, the ones on my gold K2 look to be about the same size and length as my Boges on my K1. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hmm, I might have to look into that this winter. I need to motivate myself to tear my engine out for some new seals anyways.
