77 cb750f2 SS Questions
« on: August 16, 2011, 09:49:01 AM »
I have a 77 cb750f2 SuperSport and I have been reading about the black ss engine valves becoming a problem.  I am think about buying a 74 cb750 engine and rebuilding it and throwing it in the 77f frame.  Would the regular 74 750 work?  There is nothing wrong with the black 77f engine now but id like to take it to a 836.  It hate to do all that work to it if its just going to throw a valve.  Or could put a regular 750 head onto the 77f black engine?  Thanks for any input bear with me these questions might be confusing.

Yes, an earlier 750K engine will drop into the later F frame but you will need to transfer the sprocket carrier from the earlier K to ensure the sprockets align together. Early K and later F's had different offsets.

There's nothing wrong with the F motor.....and you are pulling it because ? well my 78 black motor is completely original with a little jetting changes will flat smoke that K motor you are thinking about, some have complained about premature valve guide wear, and i seen 1 magazine that ran the sheet out the F2-3 down the strip all day and a valve keeper finally let go under abuse!...but that is fine..i will give ya $ 50 bucks for that 77 motor if you are afraid of it just PM me. Greg.  ;)

Theres nothing wrong with the engine.  I had up to 115mph on the freeway just the other day it runs great.  Just would like to get a little more out of it.  Possibly a big bore kit but ive been reading about the F engines having valve problems and it got me thinking.
