Tanks
« on: May 02, 2006, 10:21:29 PM »
I am looking for a new tank for my cb550F, old racer style, kind of like the Drixton 500 tanks. Anyone know a good source for aftermarket tanks?

Welcome rdub3017.

I dought if a Drixton tank would fit a stock frame.
If you want to continue down this route try this address.

Bartel Engineering,
295 Killaughey Rd,
County Down,
Northern Ireland,
BT21 0LY.

Tel, 02891 820 786.

This company I believe, still manufacture Drixton Motorcycles.

I'd like to welcome you also, why don't you check out the tanks at ohiocaferacers.com?
They're not the same style but, They are a good looking tank and I think Greg is either working on a
tank to fit the 550s or he's going to. I don't remember for sure. Check it out though. Later on, Bill

Thanks guys. I am just mainly looking for a longer tank. Ohiocaferacers had a cool tank, I'll have to see if they will have one for my 550.

I'll PR/Market the hell outta those tanks, If I get a custom one for my own use  ;D

Check out Benji's cafe racers website. Kinda on the pricey side, but he has some sick tanks.
If I had the cash I would pick one up in a heartbeat...Link below.

duster, I wish. Naw, I just like his tanks and also his idea about rearsets and how he mounts his.
Hey, If I could swing the cash for one of his tanks, I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'll push ideas and
products that  anybody has, that I think are worth it. Hey, I'd push them even if they were yours!
Ha! Ha! Like I said, I'll recommend any that I feel IMHO are worth mentioning. You take care duster
and I'll catch you later.                   Bill

Understood, that seems to be a never ending problem for me. Liking things but, not the cost
of them. For example (in my case) Rearsets, Aluminum gas tanks, Custom seats, and on and on. So, I
just keep looking for ways to make my own (in some cases) and substitutes (in other cases). Then I
admire the bikes of those who can get those things for their bikes. Later on, Bill

Example:
The stock tank I bought on Ebay for $60 is fine, and in perfect shape, but the
Benji tank for $300 would be much cooler on my bike.

Both would still hold fuel, and get the bike from point A to B the same.
I would rather take that $300 and dump it into my car.

Thats how I look at things like this....

I wish. Instead, I'll be looking at them at them dealer being bought and driven by other people.
I'll probably be getting a "MiniVan" next. Gotta have the room for the wife, my daughter, James &
Joey (the 2 teenage boys my wife and I work with, that are special needs) & James' wheelchair. I've
had Dodge & Plymouth Grand Caravans and Grand Voyagers before and we all fit nicely. Wouldn't
work too well with that "ToughLooking Challenger." Ahh, such is life. Later on, Bill
