Ordered my 836 kit. In the waiting point for that I took the heads apart and the jugs off to start cleaning everything for paint and polish. I think I'm going to go with the motor case, jugs and head all painted black with all the covers polished. Found a guys also on craigslist that has a gsxr 750 that he is parting out in hopes he still has the rear sets. Or is there a better set that would work best?

Thanks lucky I haven't got much done today but just a little cleaning and polishing on the engine case and covers. I guess I'm having a tough time getting the paint of so its a long process and i need to find something that works a little better butt I'm not going to give up. Hope that someone will chime in on a little easier way to do this lol

Sorry for the wait Ive been very busy at work but i am glad to say my 836 kit came in and ill be putting photos up soon. Ive also been doing some polishing on the covers to try to shy them up some and I'm hoping to be sending my heads cylinders and 836 kit in to get that all done.

I have some helpful info. Had the same problem.
When you get paint stripper some of it says paint and varnish remover. -No good.
Get the one that says paint and epoxy remover. REAL GOOD .

I can't remember the brand but it has a dark green can... Jasco I think.

BTW....If I was you I would take the "teabaggers" avatar off of your posts because
you may get more help. This is about motorcycles not politics. Just trying to help you.
There are many very cool people on this forum regardless of what their parent told them about political parties.

I would hate to think that a motorcycle forum was all Democrats or all Republicans.
Motorcyclists can get along with each other.

Putting the exhausts under the seat will cause all kinds of problems.
A lot of heat comes off of the exhausts and you would have to relocate the oil tank and the battery. Heat comes off of the oil tank too so you do not want the exhaust near the oil tank.
Also all of the electrical components would have to be relocated.
Then the exhausts my cause it to be impossible to adjust the carbs depending on the design and routing of the tubes.

There are one or two bikes that have that design and they had to have a special heat shield between the carbs and  made it impossible to do any adjustments to the carbs.

If you get the 1978 swing arm it is almost 4 inches longer.

Thanks a lot for the info that you gave lucky. I was planing on running it under the frame and then running it back up through the swing arm. As for the oil tank I'm going for the open frame look and I would be moving the oil tank and battery to another location.

Another question I have is I got a guy that will bore my jugs out for my 836 kit but he was wondering how much he is going to have to take out. If someone would please give me just an estimate on how much he would have to take out.
