charging prob.....
« on: August 20, 2011, 11:39:09 AM »
I have a 750 k that has a chrging problem....not charging. I've checked the voltage reg. and silicon unit, both seem ok. When I put a meter on the batt. and rev. bike up...the reading stays the same, around 12 volts. Any help would be great. ???

Thanks man...well I looked it over...made sure I reved up to 5000 rpm...still meter reads around 12 v. Took volt reg apart and did the adj. per shop Manuel, not clymers. Still the same. Need to check the ceramic part next...the part that is bolted to the volt reg. frame. If I need a new volt reg...can you give any ideas where to find? I've looked at DGY and other places but none show the reg. :-\

If you have an ohm meter and know how to use it. Check the resistance across the white and green wire  at the Vreg (disconnected)

Next disconnect the rectifier and check the resistance of the Yellow stator wires, to each other and to Frame ground.

I don't know what type of voltmeter you have (there are hundreds of thousands of them and almost as many designs).
But, with the key switch on as well as lighting, measure the Black wire at the Vreg to see if it is different from the actual battery voltage; S/B within .5 V.

Do the same measurement at the Rectifier plug across the Red/Wht and Green.

You could also check the six rectifier diodes to verify they conduct in one direction only.  The right meter and scale selection is quite important here, so refer to your meter's owner's manual.
