Kickstand spring - CB500
« on: August 19, 2011, 07:24:43 AM »
So the other day I was holding the spring to the side stand in my hand. I was talking to another guy at the shop about the best way to put it on the bike when he motions me over. There, in a white plastic cup, were the four carb caps I'd been looking for since I began this project at the end of May. The guy who rebuilt the carbs I guess had put 'em there for some reason and when he quit - leaving the bike literally in pieces - nobody knew where they were. In my excitement I can only gather that I put the spring down to look at the caps. Now I've spent about half an hour looking for that *%)$ thing and can't find it anywhere.

So, anybody got one? '71 CB500. I think it's the same spring as on 350's & 400's - p/n 95014-72402 . At this point I'll just buy a new one rather than spend any more time looking for it.

On the plus side though, I don't have to buy a whole carb rack just to scavange the caps :)

Thanks Smooth... but surely someone here has one they'll sell me for less than $12?!? :)

I worked about 10 hours at the shop last week and I still never found it. Ah, the joys of working in a not-so-well-organized space..... Seriously, those guys have stuff laying around everywhere. I had to tape off a section to work in!!
