Hi, I'm Paul and I got a problem
« on: May 05, 2006, 05:29:01 PM »
Hey All,

 I cant stop buying bikes.

Ok this is my last bike. LOL  I was thinking of picking up a 77 R100 for a high price. Instead I found this. He advertised it as a 76 GL1000. It is really a 75. He got it in a trade for about 1,000 got hot one day on him and leaking antifreeze into the gearbox. He took off the right head and had the gasket changed. I asked if it was still sucking water. I asked him if it was burning white smoke out the exhaust, he said no. He said he didnt really know since he didnt ride it after that. Or did and saw it was still sucking water and desided to pass the problem on to me. I picked it up to ride 30 miles home and checked it before I left. it was dry. :(   I'm thinking what did I get into. I had to fill it up 2 times on the way home. I then jumped in the car headed over to Steele's and talked with Tim. I explain to him what is happening and look's up and say's you need a water pump. He the PO said he couldnt get the foam out the gearbox after he fixed the head gasket. Now I know why. It had nothing to do with the head gasket and is leaking in from the water pump. He thought it was fixed after he had the work done. I oredered a new pump from Honda dedaler today. It was 180.00 with all gaskets and oil. It will be in next friday. I looked at a Gl1000 in the yard that had the front cover off and doesnt look like a hard job just could be a little messy.

With any luck this will work out nicely for you. Nice score. My wife has given up on me as a lost cause. I think she gave up somewhere around mmmmm ::) mmmmm 12 of my own bikes and 72 in stock.  :-\

The only thing I thought these Goldwings ever needed was a killer lookin set of pipes.

Yeah, I second that.  I'd love to add that era gold wing to my collection.
My dog loves me for the person I try to be.  Either that or he's hungry.

Sigh I have the same problem with buying bikes.

No water pump issues with my wing tho.

See Pics.

Nice, but not a SOHC for sure.
