A test of cents, trust and common sense
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:25:13 PM »
Recently I got several jobs and job offers and am willing to share in my good fortune.

I visited a relative last week, told him I was cleaning out a barn,
garage and house and planning on taking it all to the dump.
He insisted I allow him to do it and he could take all the "antiques"
and metals and sell them for a profit.

I agreed, on 2 conditions:
1- he drop his truck and trailer off and I would fill it (as I am being paid by the hour)
2- he mail  all the coins at the table in front of him ( a stack of $1 coins, worth $1/each) and a few jars filled with older coins, to my sister whom has recently
taken up coin collecting.

At first he balked, and asked if I knew how much the coins were worth?

Having no idea, I said "I have no idea."

He agreed. I said I also have some work for him to help me in the barn restoration project coming up in 4 weeks if he was interested in making some money.

Later near the end of the week I called him to bring the truck down and asked for
the tracking number of the coins he sent to my sister.

He said, "$hit, I sold them for $125.00" Why would I send them to your sister?"

I hung up on him after saying the deal was off.

At the metal buyer I recieved a check for $600+, at  the antique dealer I recieved a check for $1,200 and at the dealer of old wood products/restoration dealer I recieved a check for $75.00. I signed the backs of the checks and handed them to the home owner.

2 days later I found out she had called a friend whom is also in need of my services AFTER I fiinish restoring/cleaning her house, barn and garage and insisted I work for her.

peace,
michel

Forgot to mention the following:

2 days after the Relative pulled that crap on me,
someone walked up to me and offered to buy his
car for $3,000.00, and "....did I know his phone number as all I remember is
you sitting in the passenger seat and I see you around all the time,
but never seen that car before.
Is it from out of town? (yes it is)
I saw the for sale sign but couldn't read
the telepone number....."

My reply was, "Gee, I can't seem to find it. If I do I'll be sure to give you a ring."

Huh. Now why did I throw his phone number away?
Slipped my mind. 8)
