In the early 80's i had a job working in the regional warehouse for Honda in Norcross,Ga...they had a big crusher they used for squashing returned parts and there was one of those CR750 seat assemblies in the pile to be crushed,i tried to get the boss to sell it to me but he couldnt/wouldnt..made me sick.

Super nice race rep..sweet.

Regarding the rear hub, I obtained it quite a few years ago from Disco Volanti Motorcycles here in the UK who in turm obtained it direct from the manufacturer Menani in Italy. I have a suspicion though that these hubs are no longer made, but I could be wrong. I've just tried to look for one at M3 Racing but the web site appears to have expired. Anybody know why? I do know that Paul McGhie had an original Honda one for sale a few years ago, but I don't know if he still has it. I could ask if you wish.

Not CR750 hubs though, far too cheap for that. Daniel Mercier offers a replica hub or a complete rearr wheel if you wish, see daytona70 web site.

Fantastic build! A real inspiration for my build  ;D Out of interest where did you source the tank straps from? I would fabricate my own, however I am unsure of where to source the rubber extrusion part...

The tank strap was obtained from Paul McGhie. His contact phone number is on here somewhere, but I'll be meeting up with him next weekend, so I'll ask if he has any more.

Hi Paul
There are some official Honda plans for the frame modifications to a standard frame on the forum somewhere, otherwise it's down to as many photographs as you can get - plenty in this thread!  The works frames were different. There is a picture of one near the beginning of this thread - the headstock is lower by 25mm with consequent differences in the top tubes and the way in which they are welded together.
The Daytona70 web site is a good source of photographs.
Genuine CR750 parts seem to have dried up now, but there are some good copies available. There are also some atrocious ones as well, so beware.
If you require any info just ask, a PM might be the best way and I'll do my very best to answer.

Thanks Greg for the kind words. I'd like to think you're right in that the bike I've created is as close to the real item as you can possibly get. That was always the aim and why it's taken so long to achieve. Just don't ask what it cost!!

It's still not quite finished, but it starts and runs just fine now after a few minor troubles, like the oil pump not scavenging and the ATU I left on just for the timing marks trying to escape through the points cover. Fixed with a new 6mm lock nut, but I took the engine out the frame, no easy task, to find out what was making all the horrible noise only to discover I needn't have bothered. Now speaking of noise, I hope the following link to a YouTube video of the bike being started works. Turn up the sound and enjoy. I did !
