Play in the front sprocket?

Should the front sprocket and retaining clip have play in it? Seems like there should be a spacer there behind it and the bearing to keep it from wobbling.

or am I in for a new sprocket?

It needs that play. This allows for some misalignment in the swingarm and frame during hard acceleration.

Btw, got those brass bushings in... what a ^&#@$^@! You are way under priced at $200!

I thought the same thing when I was putting mine together but like you I was reassured it is normal.

The first time I took mine off I saw that play so I shimmed it tight. Did not take long before I noticed shinny parts on the side of my sprockets big mistake, Good thing was the chain was shot. Now I have three new parts and NO shim.

How did the swingarm clearance come out with those bushings? (I.e., can the back axle move side-to-side at all, now that it is all back together?)

No play at all, swing arm slowly decends by itself.

Rather impressed with myself, actually.
