Imagine that?  Do ya think the Gatt/Nafta treaty really helped good ole America?  NOT, put a lot of money in fat cat's pockets though.  So, just look for the 'Made in the USA' tag on everything you buy, and keep our money where it belongs.  There are plenty of USA made tools out there.  I like my Japanese made motorcycle however!!

Not surprising in the least. . . Hell, I have a Snap-On wrench made in Sweden and a Blue-Point wrench made in Taiwan, and they're both quality tools. I say if the quality doesn't suffer, they're still gonna be better than the s*** they sell at Wal-Mart. . . And I wouldn't put much stock in the Made In Usa tag. My grandpa worked in a piston factory that got parts from China, and they made them grind it off and stamp Made In Usa on them. . And this was in the 1970's. . .

It's because if they were still made in north america, they'd be five times the cost at half the quality. Yes, I said it. Labor is cheaper there, always 'will be. The material is not always up to scratch, but that's changing nowadays too.

They're already in trouble. People always talk about how the government should regulate child birth (and in a way I can agree), but China is a good example of potential unintended consequences. Their population control and Son-centric society has pretty much doomed a generation of young men to be alone forever. The suicide rate is pretty high and I can't say I blame them. Also what this does is create intense competition- only the top dudes will be getting laid. Imagine a country where the leaders are completely motivated by pussy. OK, that's not TOO hard to imagine.

Beat me to it...  I was looking into really expensive cookware a while back and found that only a couple of the pots and pans listed were actually made in america.  I'll see if I can dig it up...  All-Clad, that's what it was...

Anyway, on topic.....I've not bought any new tools for a long time. Auctions, flea markets and yard sales is where I got most of my older quality tools.

America may not make much of anything anymore, but we sure do produce a surplus of trashy women.  I just say we send a couple hundred thousand Linsey Lohans to China and we'll control the whole damm country!

I use what works.  If it bends then I take it back.  If it breaks then I take it back.  If the warranty isn't honoured then I start buying from somewhere else.

OK This is the second post today i saw bashing China.

Id say they got their #$%* together. The own all of our debt (if they dumped our treasuries onto the open market this country would be over.), they are producing goods, wether or not they are quality is under debate, but they are affordable and most of America is broke.  I work for Honda Auto, they have been getting supplies from china for years, are Honda's know for being unreliable?

HOMEWORK:  1 go home and pick up 5 items at random i bet two were made in china,
                     2. Name on thing you would go out and buy that America makes the best of (porn does not count)
