WHAT THE# So my post didn't post Here goes again.
Just started my CB350F cafe build and the tach doesn't move much with the RPM of the engine? Removed the (new) cable and its turning (slow) but turns faster when you rev it up. OK so I switched tach with a known good one (or so I think) still the needle moves slow and doesn't get much passed idle even when reving it up. Any ideas?

These clocks are almost or are forty now . Both tachs might have the same problem . Too much drag on the needle's bearing . There is silicone fluid in a small pot just under the dial . This fluid lubricates and dampens the mechanism so the needle doesn't swing wildly . If the clock is stored on its face or sideways while off the bike the fluid can leak out . There is usually a stain on the face from the fluid when this happens . I'm not sure whether the fluid can dry out or not but I've pulled apart a few which are dry inside . You can replace the fluid by disassembling the tach . The fluid can be bought from a hobby store that sells r/c cars . It is rear differential fluid for r/c cars . The viscosity is 10,000 cst .

There is some info here . There are also threads around regarding clock disassembly .
