Which 76K? 750, 550, 350? Are the spigots still used with the clamps, or are the header pipes flanged with studs (or bolts)? Either way, the copper crush gaskets are cheap and easy to replace (cheap insurance). It's also easy to overlook the old copper gaskets when installing new ones and the resulting "stack" of gaskets can be more prone to leak. Pull the pipes, make sure all traces of old copper gaskets are removed, and put new gaskets in. After having done it a couple of times any shade-tree mechanic should be able to complete the job in 45 minutes. If you have a steady hand you could move your fingers around the pipe connection at the head while the bike is running to feel for leaks, watch out though, those pipes get hot!
I've still got the scar to prove it...
