Oh man Don, I love your fairings - I just can't justify spending twice as much on a fairing as I did on my bike.

On second thought, does it come with the two accessories on the Beemer picture above? :)

As long as they have less mileage on them than my bike we should be good...

Come on, show some respect...would you refer to you mother as looking "weathered"?
I know it was contextually appropriate for the joke...and I am just kidding. I do turn 50 in less than a week, so maybe I am thinking about age too much...

Jiminy,

Yeah, that is the one I ressurrected this thread about...$1100 shipped. It is pretty nice.
I don't think Matt bid on the other one...
on the $350 one...
with all the primer and fresh paint on the brackets you don't know if it was wrecked and rebuilt or what.

welnamark,
Nice Goldwing and digging the Rabid Transit fairing on it. That is a faired Gold Wing I wouldn't mind owning.
I generally prefer the naked Wings but their prices have really gone up since 05.

Yeah, i too prefer naked bikes, especially those that weren't designed with a fairing.  The BMW R100RS is gorgeous.  I think that the Vesco looks similar to the RS fairing in some ways.

When I started REALLY riding these bikes long distances i found that the wind / elements were beating me up.  The fairing makes the bike a much more functional touring machine.

Yeah when touring or cruising on a trip more than an hour the wind can fatigue you at highway or interstate speeds.  Winter riding in cooler weather it is nicer as well.
Do you have any photos of the brackets and mounts for the fairing?
Are you running an HID lamp?
I like my CX500 plastic maggot mini fairing as it has the headlamp directed where I am headed. With many fairing they are frame mounted and point straight ahead, I prefer the hotspot of the lamp where I will be...

Just using the standard headlamp.  I try not to ride much after dark.  I usually camp when i tour and i like to set up camp in the light whenever possible.  Also lots of deer around here.

I don't have any pictures, but the Vesco uses a standard Vetter fairing mount.  I took the GL on a 4000 some mile trip last summer and was going 80 mph plus all day over the plains out to the mountains.  Nice clean air coming off it.  They say the Vesco increases fuel economy.

I just rode it around Lake Superior as well with lows in the 30's and highs in the low 50's.

Nice fairing.  I can have the bike back to stock in around an hour.

I know, same here. I posted it for the guy that has to have one. The odds of me finding a reasonably priced vesco are slim too. That's why I bought a $30 windjammer.

If you really want one I wouldn't give up looking.  There are lots of sellers dreaming / fishing out there.  It's funny how quickly bad information about something this rare spreads over the internet.  Someone stumbles across one, wants to sell it, does a google search and gets that 950 dollar ebay hit and suddenly there are 3 or 4 for sale at inflated prices.  That's not to say that the ebay seller won't get 950.  He might, but i don't think that's market appropriate.  There are plenty of people with enough money that the can buy what they want and not worry about the price.  I'm not one of those.

The 250 dollar ebay auction is more inline wtih what i've seen.  Mine had nice original paint, the original wind screen and lowers, and had minimal fiberglass damage and was complete with wiring, mount, etc.  I think I paid around 350.

Still alot of money for a fairing for an old bike to be sure but you'd spend that much in gas on your annual summer motorcycle tour.

It's a great fairing to be behind on a trip.

I think one factor that drives the price high on these is they were on a lot of BMW bikes and some tanks and other things for these niche "the look" parts command high prices in those circles.

I know lots of folks think the Windjammer fairings are butt upgly, but I personally like them. Had one in the 70s so part is reminiscing but they also work well. I just picked up a F2 mounted with one for $800 so I took it off and put it on my K4.

But that Vesco looks great on the Super Sports. Hope I can find one.
