I was out West in Santa Fe NM for the earthquake, but home in time to not get to the beach.  Here in D.C., I'm in the "tropical storm" area, vs the "hurricane" area just East of us, but we're still scheduled for about 6.5 inches of rain.

Bring the rain and keep the wind:)

My pond is a foot low, we could use the water.

Hmm, the wind too, it is stuffy out there.

Good Luck to you all, hopefully hear from you Monday after it has passed.

My daughter had Katrina pass over very close to her in Miami in 2005, so have a little understanding of it.
She moved to Cleveland Ohio a couple of weeks ago, felt the East Coast earthquake just after moving in then last week a tornado struck about a couple of miles away. The house they moved from in tri-state area NJ sale has not gone through yet so they are hoping it stays safe.

Okay, is there some sort of contest between these on-the-spot newscasters to see who can get in the most ridiculous pose on camera?  I just saw one standing in the water at the end of a dock.  The end that's always in the water.

I will know when it gets to NY. We have had so much rain this month the ground is totally saturated. Now with 8 or more inches. This is gonna suck.

That sounds like Fox News, am I right?

Fox news is ok,  there are other stations where the wish is the output of the report.

Looks like it moved past DC now, rain and some wind but nothing really serious afaik.

Yeah, but I might tune in for more histrionics as this on fizzles out.

Maybe this will be the sum total  of hurrican season. If one comes up the gulf the only shortage will be water, the heat is here to keep it going. 105  was another record high for OKC.

I worked with several hundred news people from the DC area over the time of ten years.  Can you say leftist?  They would fit right in on the Red Square, 90% of them.

All you need to know is  "Rupert Murdoch".  There was a poll out a few years back and the majority of Fox viewers believed things that were false about 9-11,  the Iraq War,  the whole birther joke, just to name a few.  Hasn't it been proven that the more you watch Fox the dumber you get? ;D

This could be a bad year for storms if they get into the Gulf with all that warm water.  This one that hit New York was never going to be a big one like a catagory 3-5 because it starts to fade as it hits the cooler water. But because it's New York the media has to play it up.

The nice thing about the 1st Amendment is that you can have the Right Wing and Left Wing press.  You can listen to Fox, You can listen to NPR or Pacifica.

I for one have some yard cleanup to do.

I thought the Soviet Union collapsed in late 1991.  Maybe you hadn't heard that, Comrade.  Too much Fox I guess. ;D

Shut it down Bob, no value here and so far off topic it's absurd.
