I just acquired a new to me 1973 CB500. It's all original (except the mirrors) and my initial intent was to do a cafe project but I'm now considering a cleanup and restoration project so any thoughts would be appreciated.
Per the previous owner it was driven regularly and ran well prior to being stored in 2007. I haven't done anything other than to confirm that the engine spins with the kicker but was told that the carbs are gummed.
First, what are the correct steps to take to asses the condition and what should I do prior to test starting the motor? I don't have any plans to get it on the road prior to next spring so time isn't too pressing. I am mechanical and have tools but have never worked on a classic bike before.
Secondly I attempted to register for the gallery to post pics but when I create the account the box never closes and it doesn't fully setup my account though if I try again it says the name is taken.
