Got ahead of myself - Intro.
« on: May 10, 2006, 11:17:16 AM »
I guess the true sign of a Newbie is doing stuff bassacwards. Thank you for letting me in SOHC 4. I've been so eager to get the ball rolling I skipped the first step ( introduction) and went straight to the task posting and sending Emails looking for parts and advice. To get to the point, I'm a 50 yr old guy from the Chicago area USA trying to get together a 1978 750F SS. It needs some work, it was sitting for four years before I got a hold of it. But all the parts are there almost, just some small but important stuff.  I've got a picture and a plan in my mind with plenty of room for compromise, (Analyse improvise adapt and overcome) And again thanks for having me.

TARKUS512 - don't sweat the protocal - moderator Steve isn't too bad of a guy ;D   New guy here too with the same bike and story, just a few months ahead of you. This is a helpful forum where you will find all the answers you need to get you bike on the road. A warning though - you are automatically placed in the elite 78750F category and will need to accept your instant superior status with grace and humility so not to raise hackles of  members owning other models ;) ;D

I know what you mean. Weather in UK has been great this week.

I had to buy a VFR cos my 500 has only 4 gears (3rd doesn't seem to exist any more) and i need to get about.

So are you an ELP fan or what?

Heya Tarkus!

You're one step ahead of me already having a CB, but I think I'll be ready to make a final decision early next week (or this weekend, depending).
Enjoy!

Oh yea Steve, been an ELP fan for ever. TARKUS was my CB handle in the 70's. Nothin like a little "Brain Salad Surgery or Fanfair for the Common Man" for breakfast. Humble Pie, Yes, all still great in my book.

Yea Pro (if I can call you that) always good to hear from Chicagoins. Been through Park Ridge many a time.  Just gettin started with this whole thing. the bike the forum, and all the things that go with it. Gotta up load a pix of the bike or somethin(it don't look like much yet). There sure are allot of nice SOHC's in here. It's just me and my 12yr old son, don't have a big budget or much spare time but one of these day I'll "get err done"
