What can I use to clean an X-Ring chain?
« on: August 27, 2011, 03:21:35 PM »
I have an RK Racing X-Ring chain on my CB 750. About a week ago I rode to work and my rear tire went flat. I need a new tire and tube. While I have the rear wheel off the bike I thought I would clean the chain. But I don't want to put solvent on the chain that might harm the rubber X-Rings and ruin the chain. What can be used to clean a black gunky chain without hurting the X-Ring seals in the chain? Thanks
Rick

+1 on kerosene.  Used it on o'ring chains for over 50,000 miles worth of cleanings, no problems.
