Suzuki TU250x

Although probably anemic in the power department, it seems like a perfect vintage classic. The only Japanese vintage classic available right now.

Anyone have one or ride one?

I love 'em!  Wish I had one.

I sat on one at a demo somewhere (Daytona?) and it fit me perfectly.  And I sure like the looks.  :)

They look like great bikes. I am seriously considering buying a 2011. I'll probably sell my CB650 though just because I'm a practical person (relatively speaking).

I learnt to ride in a TU250. Mind you, never got above third gear....

Over here, in order to get the driving licence, you had to undergo an examination with a given circuit doing tight turns, controlled braking etc. That is, when you get your licence you have never driven a bike on open roads!

After I got my licence, I got myself a Suzuki GZ250. It has the same engine, but with a cruiser look. I can tell you I still keep it 10 years later -along with my CB750, CB350 etc-. It is reliable, easy to ride, and not thirsty at all. Maximum speed is around 75 mph. I use it for commuting, it is nimble among traffic.

That being said, if I could only afford one bike, it would not be a 250cc. For me, the perfect engine size is 400cc-500cc. Powerful enough for the highway, nimble enough for the city traffic.

I always liked the TU250 looks but what's the point of getting a retro bike when you have a real retro?

If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.

I've been contemplating a tu250 as well.  The only dealer in town doesn't have any though, and I haven't seen any on craigs.  I put a bugg in the owner's ear though, and he might get one or two in December ish.  I seriously want to sit on one.  If I like it, then put some basic dual-sport tires on and use it for a weekend explorer.  No serious off-roading, but there's a lot of gravel and dirt roads around here I'm not comfortable taking the 650 on, but something like that would be perfect for!

I'm short too, so true "dual sports" tend to be too tall.  And if they're short enough (DW200, CRF230, etc) they're ugly as hell.

My Dad's got a Virago 250 - cruiser style - and I love taking that thing out for cruises.  It'll get up to 75-80 (speed limit here is 65) so plenty for highway.  And it's just a JOY to ride a light, nimble bike.  The 650 is decidedly more ponderous...
