One year and a half later... Update: Aluminum oil tank
« on: May 07, 2006, 11:03:12 AM »
I bought this project bike (1975 750F) in November 2004. I had been in Canada just a month at this moment... I wanted to finish the project in winter time, but i didn't:) I repainted frame; changed exhaust, tires, handlebar, battery, rebuilt brakes; started to assemble... but decided to powdercoat a frame and repaint a rusty tank... So, again bike was disassembled, powdercoated, polished, rewired with new connectors (all soldered), seat shortened and recovered with natural leather (upholstery job done by myself). Hydraulic clutch mounted because I used extra plate clutch set and heavy duty springs. New headlight is on, dash lights from K mode, small tach, K model ignition lock, Dyna S ignition, VFR coils, 1980 CB throttle section. Also, new shocks, chain, Pods...
Yesterday I had a FIRST ride:) I have never ridden it before:) Runs good:) Still needs some work, but almost complete:)
So, next will be wheels relacing, rearsets installing (set is almost done), engine rebuild in winter time, a lot of things...
I want to say THANK YOU, because without SOHC4 I could have much more troubles:)
More pictures coming soon...

Nice ride!  Hydraulic clutch?  Havent' seen that mod before!  How'd you do it?  "Inquiring minds want to know."

Nothing difficult... MC from Kawa ZX9, SC from Honda (not sure, which model:). Mounting plate - "made in garage". I decided to leave stock clutch mechanism, just put a special nut on it for adjustment. Left hand said "THANKS!"

From the look of your bike, I'd say the time was well worth it. Great looking ride.
Can't wait to see more pictures. Like that hydraulic clutch. Keep up the good work.

This is where I show my ignorance.  What's the deal with those pipes?  I can't make it out in the photo....but are they wrapped with something?  Please explain.

2ProTeal55: Thank you for link. It explains it all...

2ayrhen: Exhaust (MAC, as i remember) was freshly painted flat black when i bought it. But I like how wrapped pipe looks. That's it.

Just want to ad a picture "before"

I will find couple picks... They can help better, then description...
I cut 5 cm stripe from seat pan, when welded two pieces together. Foam job described on this board so many times... I did the same. Cover made on industrial sewing machine when i worked as armored car upholsterer. Now i bought sewing machine for home, so can make another one;)
I like vinyl more then leather, but at this time i had a good piece of black "cow skin"...

If it can help... I didn't find old ones, so made several new.
First - you can see welded seat pan. Primed... Will paint next time:)

Next are electric side, clutch, rear set.

Installed left mirror. Don't like how it looks on bar ends (don't want to make holes in gripes), so decided to modify a mounting.

Thanks for that, I was going to 3rd it. Oh well, I'll 3rd it anyway.

Looking forward to the clutch thing, looks interesting.
