booty shot!

This is the first project that I will attempt to journal from the very beginning on the internet. It is also my first time using photobucket. Seems to be working fine.

This exhaust is kind of interesting . . .

4-2, anyone know who made it? it has baffles. I might tape it up and paint the ends black.

This was my friend, Ian's bike for a few years. he's been trying to unload it on me for about a year now, offering it up for $300.00.

I always thought any sohc4 with a title that turns over was worth $500.00, so I let my interest be known, but I let him sit on it for me until yesterday.

Recently he was in a gnarly bicycle accident with no helmet and had to have emergency brain surgery to relieve hemorrhaging (I think thats how you spell it . . .)

So he called me up last week and said he was getting rid of it, and if I wanted it I could come get it and pay him as I can . . . kickass!

This oughtta keep me busy for the winter . . .

I'm really not sure how this is gonna turn out yet. It's all going to get taken apart and put back together perhaps with the exception of the lower case, It's going to remain a soft-tail frame, and its going to loose that hideous seat.

Thats where I'm at so far.

Ian left gas in the carbs for a year and a half so theyre either going to be rebuilt or replaced. Input on carb upgrades will be probably be necessary soon. I see sudco has a rack of 32mm smoothbores and adapters. I guess I'll start another thread for that.

As you progress into your build drop me a note every now and again. I'm redoing my 1977 again and will have a lot of stuff.

1977 and 1978 parts are on the high side. I asked my supplier why and his remark was "there are no parts". (This is for OEM parts not flea bay stuff)

Weather should cool down the end of next month and I'll be a rebuilding again!  8)

Congrats on your purchase.

As you will see, progress has been slow (there has been none) but today I picked up a pair of supersport mags from a 78 cb750F. I had seen them on craigslist for about a month and finally decided to snatch them up. Pictures tomorrow.

Looks like the bike will definitely keep you busy.

Did you decide on carbs, are the stock PD carbs still on the bike?

32mm smoothies are going to be a lot of carb unless you plan on doing some engine work.

Save the seat pan. Many people want those seat pans. Just get rid of all the rest of it.

well i hastily pulled the swingarm to take with me to make sure the parts would fit and left the bike in the far corner of the garage, which makes the right side of the bike less than accessible to mount the footpeg brackets i got. i did get the new swingarm and the back wheel put together half assed. I'll roll it out to the middle of the garage later and mock up the frontend for a picture. I am missing the rear lower engine mount bolt, the guy i bought it from said he would dig in his garage for me, we'll see. The bolt on the supersport is longer to compensate for the different bracket. if anyone has one, i'm interested.
