2011 Barber Vintage Fest Roll Call
« on: August 30, 2011, 05:43:36 AM »
Just thought I'd get this tread started for this year.  I'd just like to get a good idea of who's gonna be there and when this year.  I'm also trying to figure out who is gonna be camping and where.  I would like to try to set up a SOHC 4 meet up at some point too.

I'll start it off, riding in Thursday will be Bluto, Fabricator, and myself.  We will be camping in lot C.  Bluezboy will be riding over Friday, and camping in lot C with us.

So bring it on, who else is coming?

I'll be there.   If you can stand it, look for the Fuller Hotrods trailer - he will have several sohc's there.

An event that I likely won't miss for the rest of my life.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Since I'm not going to get to make it there this weekend like I planed I'll try to make it for that. Maybe some of my friends will have their bikes together by then so they can join me. I'd probably try to camp if I make it. I don't know where to camp though. I'm sure I can figure it out by then.

I'll be there.  Probably be staying at a hotel - getting too lazy to get all my camping stuff loaded onto the bike.  Will be spending some time hanging out at the VJMC display.

When you get your tickets (either online or at the track), get a camping pass for Lot C.  I think it's $20 or $25 it's where most of the SOHC camping will be.

Thanks for all the replies guys!!  This is shaping up to be one awesome Barber Festival this year!!  Like i said I would like to try to set up a big SOHC4 meet and greet that weekend, I met a lot of members last year but it was scattered.  This year I would like to have a nice organized meet and greet.  Maybe sometime Saturday?  Anyway there will be killer SOHC4 camping in lot C, come check it out!

I know for dinner last year we went to Ruby Tuesdays, lunch and breakfast we ate at the track.  Yeah it got a bit expensive I might try to bring some food this time.

Keith good to see that you'll be back I'll make it point to stop by again!

To everyone who's coming down, and I'm not trying to be self-promoting or anything (I've been a member here as long as I can remember and I always make sure anyone I meet with an SOHC4 becomes a member here)...

I'm going to have 2 booths set up at Barber's this year.  One will be in the Swap Meet area for DO THE TON members to hang out in and sell any old parts they haul to the show with them.  So if anyone has some gems they want to bring to sell, hit me up.  No fees or commissions or anything - just show up with your parts labelled and we'll sort things out.

As well, DO THE TON will have a tent set up in a previously inaccessible area of the Festival!  We're setting up with the boys from Dime City Cycle, Ace Cafe and Cafe Racer TV.  We're going to have some live music, a bike show etc. etc. etc.  Should be a lot of fun, and the area we're in is an awesome spot to view the racing from.

Here's where we'll be, in the area of the round checkered paved area.

The family van backed out last year , but this year there is a deal in the works to buy a bike and meet there, so it is very likely I will show up.

I haven't been down to Barber yet but this might be just the chance.  I'm thinking of flying in for one day and flying out the same evening.  Which would be the best day of the three?  Is there an auction for bikes?

To answer your questions Saturday is probably the best day, everthing is in full swing by then.  And also yes there is a bike auction, it's on Saturday.  Last year the preview was from 9 until 2 and the auction started after that.

Speaking of camping, do they have any kind of restroom or shower facility for campers?

If I remember correctly I think they do.  The facility is inside the track near the swap meet area.  And I just checked my map from last year and I see showers in two different places one in the paddock area, and the other is by the swap meet area.

So the short answer is yes there are showers, and bathrooms are all around the track.

Uh,... if I am remembering the correct track, the showers were quite nice, and people left shampoo and soap behind just for others of us in mind I expect.

Showers? We don't need no stinkin' showers, real men like to get nice and funky, plus it keeps the bugs away.

I'm going!  Probably driving since I will have the kids.  I got a tent spot in lot B (only space left).  Probably won't be there until early Saturday morning (kids have school Fri)...
