best and cheapest place to buy clutch plates?

I was just wondering where you guys went to buy a new clutch? I need one for my 72 cb500. When my motor warms up the clutch goes to hell. I mean really goes to hell right on the brink of not making it home. When the motor is cool it works great, but after 10 or so city miles it sucks. I replaced the clutch springs and adjusted everything a couple times over. Prior to me reviving it , it sat for 11 years. Do i need to buy both the clutch plates and the friction plates? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check the FAQ for a list of online stores. eBay is often the best source. I got a set of Barnett kevlar clutch friction plates for $1 a while back - never used them, sold them later on.
I don't know whether you need new plates based on your troubles - I'll let others chime in on that one.

My 350f sat for god knows how long before I revived it. The clutched slipped at first, about the time I was going to buy parts it started getting better, it's fine now. Prolly some gunk on the plates got wore off. I just got lucky, I wouldn't bank on this as a solution.

I searched Ebay for months looking for a clutch for my 500. The only ones I've come across have been used. Life's too short.
I finally broke down and bought a clutch pack from David Silver. About a hundred bucks after shipping. Whaddya gonna do?

i did some research to find the 8 plate set that used to be offered by Actionfours but no luck. They told me that they sold a large portion of the company to APE and I also walked away with nothing. Would love to find it though.

Well, thanks for the effort, tintin, but notice that only one of those ads is for actual Honda stuff, and the one that is is essentially the same price as David Silver -- except no springs included.

I have heard that soaking the drive plates in oil and scuffing the driven plates with (light!) emory cloth will help an old, but not worn out, clutch.....never tried it myself, though

Oops, I always assume everyone knows about David Silver.
www.davidsilverspares.co.uk
. Probably the biggest supplier of SOHC spares in the world. Prices are pretty average -- no real deals to be had -- but has probably 75% of what we need in stock.
