CB500K Cafe Racer - First bike - First build
« on: August 31, 2011, 01:28:31 PM »
Yesterday I picked up my first motorcycle to restore/rebuild as a cafe racer. I already got some clipons and Tarozzi controls with the bike. Furthermore I'm going to buy a tank, seat and battery box from Benjie.

Going to start with stripping the bike this weekend. Going to take a look at the engine to see how it looks, compression test etc. Also plan to go over the frame to see what the previous owner did to it (he also wanted to make a cafe racer of it).

Anyone got tips which manuals I should buy?

Welcome here!

First thing that pops out at me is that the rear section of the frame has been chopped off right behind the shock mounts.

Good luck wtih the project!

Thanks will take a look at that!

Furthermore the frame no. says CB500K - 100011XX. Anyone got an idea if a CB500 is the same as a CB500K? Can't find anything on the internet.
