Thank You to the Forum....Bike Done Almost
« on: September 17, 2011, 07:30:05 PM »
Got 85% of it done myself over a couple of years (with many months of break in between) while I got plenty of help from the kind people here on this forum.

Then gave the bike to a shop to do the wiring, engine prep for start up, and a few other minor things I couldn't do.

When it came back, it made a lot of cam chain noise. Used Seafoam, changed oil, an much of it gone now.

While loading it on the trailer to go down to CHP for VIN verifiaction for title, the bike dropped inside the trailer and dented the hand formed tank (I had many hours of work on it). Right now, besides the tank dent and speedo which is stuck, everything else seems to work.

Thank you.

-Kouros.

Looks great- nice work. I'm almost done with a more modest 550 restoration.
PM me if you ever come to San Diego.

Not a good idea to have your fuel on when not driving it.. When did you do the dent? I remember your other video and there wasn't a dent.. nice looking bike though

Yes my heart sank as it was just finished with my registration in my hand for just less than an hour. But I'm over it. I'll fix it.
I just got back from a ride in the canyons. My neck and wrists hurt, but it was much fun.

Beautiful bike. Very classy. Where did you buy your tank emblems? I've been looking for them and found they're really expensive. Did yours come from Japan?

Thank you. Emblem was purchased on ebay and from Australia. I looked for the receipt but couldn't find it just now. They were not cheap.

Just get some superbike bars. They will still look right and you will be more comfortable.

Lucky,
The logic was:
I live near a few canyons which people travel distances to ride in east Orange county. Also I ride a BMW1500RT for longer distances. So, me being me....brain says yes, body says no......figured why not bring back some memories of 1970's Switzerland back when we had our bikes with clubmans. Don't know! It may get old fast, we'll see.

Just think of the dent as a well earned battle scar (getting registration can be QUITE a battle sometimes ;) ) and wear it proudly for now...
As far as the club-mans, if it doesn't feel good, you're not doing it right. Try rotating the bars backwards a bit...
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!
Helmets save brains. Always wear one and ride like everyone is trying to kill you....
