Picked up another retro 750 today, OUT OF ITS 4 YEAR HIBERNATION
« Reply #25 on: September 12, 2011, 08:02:54 PM »
Got to go on a bit of an extended test ride this afternoon.  Bike runs very well, got lucky on this one, after the other retro cruiser with the broken motor case and accepting another motor as partial payment for work that also had a broken case this ran flawlessly for the short 30 mile shakedown ride.  I'll post more photos tomorrow.

That airless seat had had all the front padding removed, a bit uncomfortable  ::) ::)  ...Larry

Well the best laid plans of mice and men were set aside for 4 years.  I had intended to put the motor from this bike into a 750 that is now owned by Stev-o.  Previous to Stev-o acquiring the other bike I had sold it to Matt along with another motor that we installed but never got running before Matt moved to SC.  I almost forgot I had The Tequila Sunrise  but am on a quest to pare down the quantity of motorcycles I own so I pulled it out of The Rat Cave(figured if Stev-o can have a Bat Cave I can have a Rat Cave).

During its hibernation I had taken parts off the bike(fenders, ignition, air box, etc). so I spent several hours in search of the ignition, more time in search of the petcock and way too much time fitting the air box with deformed boots.  Anyhow the bike is back together and running well.  Took a couple test rides today and have serious reservations about selling as it is one 8) 8) retro cruiser.  So cool, that I added the seat, luggage rack and back rest that were on Stev-o's 750 to enhance its retro look.  Some up to date photos

I may sell.  However, if I can get a title that should magnify the value immensely.

I believe it is a 1974

Looks good Larry.   Were the tank and carbs drained when you stored it?

Thanks, yep carbs and tank drained.  Fired right up after I found all the stuff I had taken off-took all day Sunday to get back up running, more time finding stuff than actual working.  I think the front fender is on your bike, petcock was buried in a bin of parts and had been taken apart, ignition was under a tarp, luggage rack was in a storage area, backrest in the corner of a shed, air box for some reason unbeknownst to me was completely taken apart and stored in a bin with 4 other air boxes(took a couple hours to weasel the air cleaner back on as the filter to carb boots were severely distorted).   But now the bike is complete, running well and looking retro cool-the old Connie tires have lots of tread but are dry rotted  and of course NO TITLE :( are the only problems...Larry

FWIW, that seat was a Corbin that the previous owner of Stev-O s bike had custom upholstered.  He made a living as an auto upholsterer.     If I remember correctly(half the time I cannot remember at all) the symbols were Czech related, maybe Prokop the deerslayer knows..Larry

Nope,  I retained the seat and backrest when Matt took the bike.  Think I he took the original motor.  your bike should be complete but non-running.  Did you get a new harness and an old one??...Larry

Honestly, I dont know.  The bike was dropped off and went straight to the back of the Batcave and is covered up. Matt also generously sent three containers of spare parts, haven't been through all of them yet.
Trying to get this H2 resto rolling, so the K4 wont see daylight til later this fall?

It is a unique bike with lots of character.  Hope you continue to enjoy it and some riding weather conditions continue to be dominant as the calendar is passing by quickly.

Unique for sure, wish I knew more of the history-the tank was painted by Roy(?????), whoever he is or was, in 1975
