CB500T tank on 74 cb550 what petcock you running?
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:37:03 AM »
Just wondering what you guys were running for petcocks on a cb500t tank when put on a cb550. I moved the half circle mounts back 1/4 in on the front of the tank to make room for the clip ons. It then put the petcock bung directly over the #1 carb. I ended up using a cb400f petcock with slight modifactions. The prob is that it has a single feed. It needs to be short and have a dual vertical feed.  Thanx

I have a cb500t tank on my cb550 and I use the standard twin outlet petcock, however what I did to clear the number 1 carb was to turn the petcock about 1/4 of a turn and it slotted in between the carb hardware.

Here you go, I remember I had to raise the rear of the tank about 1/4" also.

Here you can see the standard 500t petcock has been rotated slightly..

Here you can see how much I raised the rear of the tank...

Now the gas pipes snake up through the horizontal bars on the carbs to join the twin outlet, I am using a t-connector as I only need 1 inlet for my carbs.
