Caliper question
« on: September 06, 2011, 08:41:31 AM »
Can anyone show me a picture or tell me where the small clips go on the caliper for a 78 CB750F?  None of the fiches I"ve seen show these clips.  I'm talking about the the two smaller ones.  I think one goes on each caliper but I was asleep when I took them apart a few months ago.  Now I can't figure out where they go.  I saw one reference to these that called them retaining clips but I don't know.  Can anyone help?

Thanks, Graydude/Todd

Those look like parts on my Goldwing caliper. Are you sure your caliper is original?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Not sure if they are the orginal calipers.  No history from the POs.  Do you have those on your GW and if so, maybe I can find that application.

Does the caliper have single or double pistons?

If memory serves, the two little ones go on the ends and the bigger one goes underneath the pads against the metal backing plate.

Sounds about right, King, but there should only be one small clip per caliper.

For a blow-up, look at the parts fiche of a '81 GL1100 for single piston or '82 GL1100 for dual piston.

Thanks guys.  It's a single piston and I know the H looking clip goes up against the caliper body.  I seem to remember one clip per caliper but you can see the little U channel at the top of each clip is a little different.  I have two with the smaller U cut out and one as shown with the bigger cut out.  I will check out the GW drawing.  Thanks again!
