128 there is at least 135 at sea level.. plus that is REAL Documented speed, not speedo-speed.
Good on you next year will be faster..
The enemy at the salt is Altitude and Slippage.. most bikes after a certain point get slippage..in fact many add weight to help traction.. let me put it this way.. you can easily dig a hole or scrape a layer off the salt with your boot... a whole different game..

Because I was running the Rickman frame I had to enter the special frame class. I also wanted to run the Rickman as designed so I had to run in the partial streamliner class (front fairing installed). I went to 61.5mm pistons that brought me to 748cc. I thought I should stay under 750cc to be competitive. APS AG 750 is the class designator. 153.772 is the class record I was in error on one of my posts. I think for this little 750 the biggest issue is not so much slippage on the salt but getting the gearing and jetting correct. My gearing was 18/40 and I think it was pretty good. I never really got to where the engine was designed to make it's max power. 8k-10k.
But there is next year! Oh yes, don't forget the velocity stacks next time.

Great Stacks! Maybe the best yet! We were very careful to keep salt out of the intake............think about the air passing AWAY from the stacks at speed...........but you can't have induction or ram-air.  The special construction class allows for significant frame mods.........Please don't cut the Rickman!

Just to confirm........your now in the San Francisco area...........no longer in Minnesota?

Hello Dennis. I am very happy for you and your team. You guys did an outstanding job!
I was very pleased that you took the initiative to stop in an talk about the forum and bikes in general at out camp in the pits. It was a lot of fun talking to you with Carl and myself. No worries on the Rickman frame being cut or altered in any way. That Bonneville bike has officially been retired and will stay in its original glory, AMA, BUB and JMR stickers never to be removed.  I am now in the process of looking into a custom built frame specifically for LSR with modifications in the engine design based on my engine postmortem. To tell you the honest truth I had more fun working on this bike and getting up at 3 am attempting to get the max of this little 748cc gal, then I have in a very long time! Even though many problems ensued I had the time of my life. MAN I love this LSR thing! I will see you next year on the salt. Oh yes, I still live in Minnesota I just have a CB750 K8 in San Francisco when I visit or work in the area. We are almost neighbors.

Interesting that you went 128 on your first effort...........I think the fastest a 750 sohc has gone on the salt is 129.

If you are thinking of running your Rickman on the track, maybe a run around the Road America track in the AHRMA series would be fun?!

In the Modified frame category you have to keep the seat pan at or above the level of the rear rim. In the A (Spectial Construction) class you can sit anywhere. If you remove the lump from the left crankcase, the motor starts to get more slippery in the air..........if you build the frame to tilt the motor like a modern BMW, the tranny will have less oil drag and the whole bike could have a lower profile.  OK, enough from me with a low budget...........its your build.

I have a few friends in the Cities, and another near International Falls..........all have one or more CB750s.

I've just emailed a guy who went over 200mph on one. His name is Mel Nolan and a while back he tried to get onto the forum with not much luck. I'm not sure if he is 100% computer savay but saying that, neither am I. ;D
He might be no good on computers but he sure dose know how to make a SOHC4 sing. ;)

No Scott, the black 175 is mine, I built the CR for a guy who WAS my mate.
It's the same bike as is in my avatar, different fairing and exhaust and rider.(me)
Fastest recorded speed with stock motor was 127mph in 4th gear.
Don't ask what happened to 5th.
