1971 cb500K rectifier / electrical panel replacement
« on: September 07, 2011, 03:16:23 PM »
The bike is a 1971 Honda CB500K0

So my electrical panel is pretty well burnt up.  I need new connectors and rectifier.  Possibly the regulator as well.  I'm pretty new to electrical repair.  For the fried plug/connectors, I've found this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ELECTRICAL-MOUNT-PLATE-BRACKET-HONDA-1971-1972-CB500-/130522983121?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e63c6aad1#ht_905wt_760

As for the rectifier, I've found some on ebay, but those look like they're on their last legs as well.  Is there an aftermarket one that will fit a '71 CB500K?  Here's what my assembly looks like at the moment:

Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

That is the VERY early 500 and is difficult to get because of the round pin connectors.

The complete loom with panel will fit from a later one with the spade connectors--no need to change bar or ignition switches nor any other bits

The complete loom and panel from a 550 will also fit but you need to make minor mods to some items, if you get one of those PM me and I will tell you what mods to make
