Topic: Piston marking: ID please

Can anyone tell me what this marking represents on the piston. It is a "3" with an arrow (or greater/lesser than sign) over the top of it.

I have them on 2 pistons, and the number is different. I can't seem to search what this represents.

maybe marked for the holes and what part faces forward?

I'm not sure which holes you are talking about.  HondaMan mentioned that it might be a weight marking.  Not sure.

At this point, I'll measure it agin, but it seems that the two numbers being different would represent something weird.

left cyl is @1 right is #4

Aha.  Well, the other one has 5 on it! . Maybe that's the spare
