Will a 1980 550K3 engine drop straight into my 1976 550F1 frame?

First things first.
Hi to everyone :)

Now then, will a 1980 550K3 engine drop straight into my 1976 550F1 frame? I know this is more than likely a stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure before I press that buy it now button.

I need to try and fix my engine and thought if I could find a running engine to put in the bike whilst carrying out repairs.

Thanks

Don't think that Honda made a 550K3 in 1980.  They made a 550 Highthawk, but that was a shaft drive, twin cam motor that definitely will not drop into your '76 frame.

You can put either a CB500 or a CB650 motor in a 550 frame though.  The 550 exhaust will work with the 500 motor, but the CV carb'd CB650's have a sllightly different exhaust system.

I did wonder about the year for the K3 engine.
This is the engine in question.
The seller also has a rolling chassis up for sale and it is definitely chain drive.

I'll go and have a look at it.
Thanks for the advice TR

Don't forget he's on the other side of the pond ;)

The bike in the ebay ad is a SOHC CB550.  That motor will drop into any SOHC CB500/550 frame.
