Hello all. This is my first post in the this forum - I haven't had to ask any questions yet, as I've gleaned a wealth of knowledge in here already. Just recently finished rebuilding the carbs on my '78 CB750F. Discovered that the float height was WAY off, so I'm pretty sure that was the root cause of some major "running lean" issues. However, while making adjustments to the accelerator pump assembly (there was no gap between the pump rod and the tab on the arm) I noticed that when twisting the throttle, the spring that lets the arm come down and push on the rod is not very powerful. Eventually it makes its way down, but not quite all the way. The diaphragm itself is fine, and I can push it down manually. I've checked to see if maybe there's a bend in the rod that would create some friction during its travel, but everything seems fine. The only thing I can think of is that the spring itself is not providing enough pull. I've checked everywhere and can't find a good photo of how that spring is supposed to look. Mine seems really flimsy, and I'm wondering if I could replace with some other sort of utilitarian spring? Or is it not good to have the pump opening up that quick? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
