650 head beware...
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:49:03 am »
Just heard some gossip from the last round in the Italian classic series.

Fastest 500/4 guy here (and the race winner), was disqualified for running a 650 head on a 500 in a post race check......

The funny thing is that this year he is so far ahead of anybody else that he really doesn't need the advantage.

in 2009-2010 he was the only one managing to run with the lone Paton 500, but this year the Paton rider is gone and he is pretty much running his own races.

Might explain why he once told me he was seeing more than 67hp from this motor :)

He is going to fill in a protest in any case, as the rulebook isn't that clear on the subject, doubt if he'll get his trophy back.

Just in case any of you was planning on using a 1979 650 head on older period bike.....

We don't need to have a 650 head to have 67 hp , we have it with a 500 head  :P

Nice result Rene ! what made the difference you think?

And by the way....  I said he made MORE than 67..... by how much I cant tell, I made a promiss to the guy :)

The nice thing about the 650 head is that it doesnt require much work as the 500 head does, but if its now illegal for racing here, its not much help.

Certainly good for street builds but at that point why stay with only 500cc?

It's also illegal by our classic rules.
