Titling a 550
« on: September 12, 2011, 08:51:10 AM »
so I have a "friend" who built a bobber out of a 75 cb550, that had no title.  This same "friend" also purchased another 75 cb550 that was used for parts. The parts bike came with a clean title.  My friend would like to know if anyone has ever heard of grinding the stamped VIN# off the neck of the bike with no title, and transfering the VIN tag from the parts bike and registering it that way.  I mean really, I told my friend it's not legal, but would anybody really ever know any different?

I had a friend that did that.  But I have to ask, what next?  crack cocaine?  cigarettes? the occasional prostitute?  where does it end?

I'm still waiting for someone to try that guy in Utah...  I may be the first to try with my 750 but it's not done yet.

Officer, please stand here while I grind off this vin and oh, by the way, could you hold these rivets............I have bought, and sold, many bikes with the vin manually stamped into the neck with no data plate at all.  If the title matches the stamped neck, you are good to go.  That includes out of state police check bikes and international sales as I have done all of those. Indiana will even issue new vins for custom built bikes if needed, They are MVINxxxxIN and the builder is responsible for stamping the neck before the police inspect it. That is all I know and the drugs in my pants aren't mine because the pants aren't mine.  I don't know whos they are.............
