Questions you thought were too dumb to ask......
« on: June 11, 2014, 06:02:30 AM »
A lot of forums have a thread like this to keep clutter down and to help people who have dumb questions :)

If a thread like this exists, we can delete. If not, and if no one minds, I'd like to start one. Hopefully we can all chime in where needed to help each other quickly find solutions to questions.

Ill start.

Is there a specific type of spray can paint that people use to touch up their bike? I am specifically looking for a brand/type that works well to touch up the following parts on my bike.

 - Kick stand
 - brake caliper
 - spot touch the frame

I don't mind the dumb questions as much as the redundant questions. Sometimes I get on the board and the same question has been asked many times within two pages. And all threads with good answers. If there were only a search function, hmmm.........

If a dumb question is asked, can we give a dumb answer?

Seriously, Rustoleam semi-gloss black is a good match for the frame and kickstand.
Caliper paint should be used on the caliper [sounds like a dumb answer but is true]. Get it at your local auto parts store.

I'd use semigloss black. Best would be an automotive paint but barring that I'd use Hammerite. It's a lot tougher than Rustoleum and the like in my opinion. I should add that I know very little about paint.

what parts from a 79 DOHC can be used on a 78?

Specifically the exhaust.  Is there a size issue?

nope.  but then, I saw a 79 cb750 fir cheap and need some stuff from it for the 78.   looked to have a aftermarket 4 into one setup.  less than a new set, way less.  Also had a airbox which I don't have.

Noobish? maybe

I recall somebody using DOHC headers on SOHC CB750.
