How to replace wheel dampners?
« on: September 13, 2011, 08:06:08 AM »
Finally got new bearing installed.  I put in brand new wheel dampners, but can't get the piece that holds the sprocket back in as the new dampners are tight.  Any trick to getting this back together?

Soapy water will slick them up and then dry out for proper friction. Push and pry other than that.

I slick them up with some armorall. I'm sure some would rail at that. Armorall is suspected of having bad stuff in it.

But some form of lube seems appropriate. Maybe just the tiniest bit of motor oil, vaseline, etc. And a rubber mallet.

Tire lube should be benign. Kings soapy water should work.

Yet another good use for Ru-Glide.
